Hue/Saturation Control
Explanation
At the center of the hueDive(®) control area we have D65 (daylight) and at the rim maximum saturation. The recognizable colour differences (JNDs) are spread equal over the area. The intensity (aka value) is set to maximum in this demo. For real applications a lightness control is needed in addition.
The hueDive(®) colour selection technology also works for an extended gamut with more than 3 primary colours in combination with an advanced colour balancing algorithm.
Screen colours may approximate luminaire colours because of the different gamut extensions. However, the luminaire's gamut is mapped exactly onto the hueDive(®) control area. Because of the rectangular shape of the control area the colours can be selected without the help of a screen, e.g. by a joystick or trackball.
The sensitivity with respect to saturation can be decreased around the whitepoint for easy selection of different shades of white while maintaining access to the full colour range.
